I signed up for the Push-Up Challenge because mental health is something that affects far more people than we realise, yet it is still treated like a conversation people should avoid. Too many people struggle silently, convincing themselves that nobody understands or that asking for help makes them weak. I wanted to be part of something that pushes against that mindset.

For me, the challenge is not just about fitness or completing a certain number of push-ups. It is about discipline, resilience, and standing in support of people fighting battles that are often invisible to everyone around them. Every push-up represents a reminder that mental health matters, that conversations matter, and that support can genuinely change someone’s life.

I also wanted to challenge myself personally. The physical side of the challenge reflects the mental side of life, there are moments where you feel exhausted, unmotivated, or ready to stop, but continuing anyway builds strength. That idea connects directly to what so many people experience every day with their mental health.

By taking part, I hope to raise awareness, encourage conversations that people are scared to have, and contribute in even a small way towards making mental health support more accessible and understood.

Supporting headspace

headspace is Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing early intervention mental health services for 12-25 year olds.

Each year, headspace helps thousands of young people access vital support through our headspace centres in over 175 communities across Australia, our online and phone counselling services, our vocational services, and our presence in schools.

The support headspace receives from the community helps us achieve our vision - that all young Australians are supported to be mentally healthy and engaged in their communities.
