About My Challenge

I’m completing 3,307 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health in Australia. This year, I’ve chosen Lifeline South East as the recipient of my donations.

Coming from a correctional background, I’ve seen mental health struggles first-hand across both the community and my colleagues. Transitioning into public safety as a first responder has further highlighted just how much support is needed within our communities. First responders are often first on scene, stepping into traumatic situations to support others during their time of need. This repeated exposure to trauma doesn’t come without impact—many face triggers, PTSD, and other mental health challenges that affect not only our work, but also our relationships and wellbeing. At times, we’re also responding to people experiencing their own mental health crises.

My push for better aims to raise awareness of the mental health challenges faced by the entire community. Mental health affects us all—directly or indirectly.

Supporting Lifeline South East SA

Lifeline South East is one of the beneficiaries of this year’s The Push-Up Challenge. Together, Lifeline and The Push-Up Challenge, aim to raise awareness about mental health and the impact of suicide on Australians.

Funds raised will enable Lifeline to continue providing their critical 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services, answer more help seeker contacts, and ensure any person in Australia who needs support knows where and how to find it.
