3,307 Push-Ups for Dad

The recent loss of my Dad to mental health has made this year’s Push-Up Challenge mean more to me than ever.

I’m completing 3,307 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness for mental health in Australia. This is my second year taking part, but this year carries a much deeper meaning. Losing Dad has reinforced just how important it is that we continue talking about mental health, supporting one another, and breaking down the stigma that still surrounds it.

For me, this challenge is about more than just push-ups. It’s about helping create a culture where people feel comfortable being honest about how they’re really doing. A culture where it’s normal to say, “No, I’m not alright,” and know that it’s okay to ask for help.

It’s also a reminder to look out for your mates, your family, and the people you care about. Not everyone who is struggling shows it. Sometimes the people who seem the happiest, strongest, or have everything under control are carrying battles that nobody else can see. A genuine check-in, a conversation, or simply taking the time to listen can mean more than you know.

If this challenge encourages even one person to speak up, reach out, or check in on someone they care about, then it’s worth every push-up.

This one’s for you, Dad.
