Why do I do this every year? Yes, he's back :)
I am back once again to flood your socials of me doing push-ups in random locations. Why? To raise money for mental health, suicide prevention and of course, fitness.
This year, the bar is set really high. It is my 5th year doing the challenge and I will be completing 3,214 push-ups in 23 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health in Australia.
This number, 3,214, represents the number of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2023. It is devastatingly too high. 1 life is already. 'too many'.
Like many people, I experience real challenges with mental health from time-to-time. These challenges can be brought on my numerous stresses and other contributing factors it my life.
Sometimes I feel like I have no joy in my life, the world feels heavy, I feel unmotivated, I want to disconnect from the world and people around me. At other-times, I feel crippled, I can't get out of out of bed and everything feels like it is 'too much' or 'too hard'. I shut down. It impacts me and sometimes, the people close to me. Mental illness doesn’t discriminate — it affects our friends, our families, our students, our colleagues… and sometimes, ourselves.
I have seen how damaging untreated mental health issues impact those really close to me.
In short, mental health matters. Conversations, matter. Movement is powerful - not only for our bodies, but for our minds.
Every push-up I do is a small step towards something bigger: raising awareness and support for the millions of Australians who experience mental health challenges.
I’ll be pushing through the reps, one day at a time, to honour those who struggle, to remember those we’ve lost, and to support organisations doing vital work in mental health prevention, education, and support.
Please cheer me on, join the challenge, or donate if you can. Every bit helps. 💪
Every dollar helps #pushforbetter mental health outcomes in Australia by funding much-needed mental health services and initiatives.
Supporting Lifeline

Lifeline exists to ensure no person in Australia has to face their toughest moments alone.
Our crisis support services are available 24/7 to listen, without judgement, to any person in Australia who is feeling overwhelmed, experiencing crisis or longs to be heard.
Experience shows us it is through connection that we can find hope. With Australians struggling with cost-of-living pressures, increasing inflation, housing insecurity, global instability, and recovery after extreme weather events, our crisis support services have remained in high demand with our voice and text services receiving up to 4,000 contacts a day from help seekers. Our partnership with The Push Up Challenge plays a vital role in raising funds to support the delivery of suicide prevention and crisis support services at a time where we have never been needed more.
Thank you for supporting Lifeline. Your fundraising is helping to save lives.
