About My Challenge

My name is Gunni Petursson.

41yo father of two, senior emergency nurse specialist, originally from Iceland and now call Melbourne my home away from home.

I'm completing 3,307 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health in Australia.

Through my job I have seen the effects that suicides and suicidal ideation have on individuals, families and the communities around them, and this little effort of mine is a small effort in order to raise money for those institutions that are always there for those who need them the most.

Personally I have also lost a few to suicide, so this is dedicated to those who have lost their battles.

I may not have the best shoulders to be able to do only pushups so I'll mix in a bit of heavy hoisting, 100 minutes of cardio or even squatting colleagues at work, but I'll stick to the numbers if the donations keep rolling in.

You can show your support by making a tax-deductible donation to my page.

Every dollar helps #pushforbetter mental health outcomes in Australia by funding much-needed mental health services and initiatives.

Dedicated to: Each and every patient that has lost their battle with depression

Supporting Lifeline Western Melbourne VIC

Lifeline Western Melbourne is one of the beneficiaries of this year’s The Push-Up Challenge. Together, Lifeline and The Push-Up Challenge, aim to raise awareness about mental health and the impact of suicide on Australians.

Funds raised will enable Lifeline Western Melbourne to continue providing their critical 24/7 crisis support and suicide prevention services, answer more help seeker contacts, and ensure any person in Australia who needs support knows where and how to find it.
