About My Challenge
I’m taking on The Push-Up Challenge this June and committing to 1,654 push-ups to raise $1,000 for mental health in Australia.
This challenge means a lot more to me than just the physical side. A few years ago, when I was in grade 11 at school, I lost someone incredibly close to me - a family friend who was like a brother. He was only 20 years old when he took his own life after struggling with mental health.
Just two years later, I experienced another loss. A neighbour who I had known since I was a kid - someone I grew up around - also took his own life in his 50s. I was incredibly close with their whole family and that loss deeply affected all of us. Losing two people like that, both in such different stages of life, really showed me how mental health struggles can affect anyone.
Those losses changed me. They opened my eyes to how real and serious mental health battles are, and how often people suffer in silence - especially men. It’s still a topic that can feel uncomfortable to talk about, but that’s exactly why it needs more awareness, more conversations and more support.
I’m doing this challenge for them, and for everyone who’s ever felt like they didn’t have the support they needed. No one should have to go through that alone.
All funds I raise will go to Headspace to help provide support, resources and safe spaces for young people across Australia.
If you can, I’d really appreciate your support - whether that’s a donation, sharing this, or simply checking in on someone you car about.
Let’s keep the conversations going and make a difference together.
Supporting headspace
headspace is Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing early intervention mental health services for 12-25 year olds.
Each year, headspace helps thousands of young people access vital support through our headspace centres in over 175 communities across Australia, our online and phone counselling services, our vocational services, and our presence in schools.
The support headspace receives from the community helps us achieve our vision - that all young Australians are supported to be mentally healthy and engaged in their communities.
