About My Challenge

From the 3rd of june to the 26th of june, I’m taking part in The Big Push and doing 3,307 push-ups — one for every suicide in Australia in 2024.

When I first saw that number, it honestly hit pretty hard. But what stuck with me even more was thinking about how many of those people were probably dads.

There’s no exact number tracked, but estimates suggest around half of all suicides in Australia each year could be fathers. That’s potentially thousands of kids growing up without their dad around. Missing out on the little things, the big moments, and just having their dad there as they grow up.

That’s a tough thing to think about.

So this challenge is more than just push-ups for me. It’s for the dads out there still fighting through stress, pressure, mental health struggles, and the day-to-day grind while still trying to be there for their families. And it’s for the kids who need their dads here.

3,307 push-ups is going to suck at times, but if it helps raise even a little awareness or gets someone talking, then it’s worth doing.

If you’d like to support the cause, donate or share the page. And if someone around you doesn’t seem okay, check in on them. You never really know what someone’s carrying.
