My Challenge
Hey, I'm Brandon. If you're reading this, hopefully you're in the process of, or deciding to make a donation. Let me help make your mind up.
I'm an average 32 year old guy. After school I did an electrical apprenticeship, where I was an apprentice sparky for 4 years for a small family run business. I wanted to do more for my country and its people, so I joined the army at 21, where I served for 6 years both here and overseas. I left the army, still wanting to serve, but needing a more stable life for my family. I joined the QPS, where I've been for about 6 years now, currently a budding Detective in Brisbane City.
Throughout my adult life I've worked in some of the most mentally trying and challenging environments and workplaces. I've often seen and felt the depths of despair that people can get to, and I've since lost count of the amount of times I've seen people fall into that pit, to never return. I've personally lost friends to suicide, in all of my professions. I've consoled family and friends affected by suicide, and know the pain they feel. I've personally consoled countless friends and strangers, and delivered the most tragic news they will likely ever receive. Mental health is a profound scourge on our society and needs to be taken as seriously as its dire consequences. We must do better.
I, and most of my office, are raising funds for Lifeline - an organisation that strives for suicide prevention, and provides support to people in crisis. We are aiming for raise $2,000, but I think, with your help, we can and should do far better.
If you want more info reach out to me personally, or check out my Teams page - Brisbane City CIB.
I'm completing 3,307 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health in Australia. Each member of my team is doing the same. The carpet of City CIB will remain drenched with our sweat and determination.
You can show your support by making a tax-deductible donation to my page.
Every dollar helps #pushforbetter mental health outcomes in Australia by funding much-needed mental health services and initiatives.
Supporting Lifeline
Lifeline is a national charity providing Australians who are experiencing emotional distress access to 24-hour crisis support, suicide prevention, mental health, and domestic and family violence prevention services.
Lifeline exists to ensure that no person in Australia has to face their toughest moments alone.
Our experience has shown us that it is through connection that we can find hope. That’s why we are available 24 hours a day to listen without judgement to anyone in Australia who is feeling overwhelmed, distressed, or experiencing a crisis. Each year, Lifeline receives over 1.3 million contacts to our crisis support services.
By supporting Lifeline, you are ensuring the Lifeline network has the critical technology, resources and people necessary to deliver crisis support, self-led support, and counselling services around the clock.
