The Community of Broome coming together to support headspace Broome
headspace Broome is once again taking on The Push-Up
Challenge this year building on an amazing effort in 2024 where over 7000
push-ups were completed and over 2,500 dollars raised.
This year our Youth Advisory Committee and other young
people have identified a need to grow activities and events put on by headspace
Broome whilst also enabling our current groups to continue running.
Over the last four years, almost every event and group has
been co-designed with young people. These events and groups have had a profound
effect on the mental health of those attending, as well as making the service a
lot more accessible for young people by reducing stigma and enabling warm
introductions to staff.
The groups that started or continued thanks to last year's push-up challenge
have been a game changer for the service. From the System Restore Social Club
which tackles social isolation, our
on country and art groups for First Nations young people, Peer groups
empowering young women and a LGBTQIA+ group, for a safe space to interact,
socialize, and discuss shared experiences.

Supporting headspace Broome
headspace is Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds.
Each year, headspace helps thousands of young people access vital support through our headspace centres in over 157 communities across Australia, our online and phone counselling services, our vocational services, and our presence in schools.
The support headspace receives from the community helps us achieve our vision - that all young Australians are supported to be mentally healthy and engaged in their communities.
