Grant, Supporter Engagement Advisor at headspace, shares what makes The Push-Up Challenge such a meaningful way to move your body, support mental health and help young people access vital services.
Why did you decide to take part in the Push-Up Challenge?
I wanted to be part of something that’s simple but powerful. The Push-Up Challenge is all about getting active while helping raise funds and awareness for mental health. The Push-Up Challenge is such a tangible way to support headspace and start conversations that really matter.
Why is pushing for better mental health in Australia important to you?
Looking after our mental health is so incredibly important and being there for the people around us is as equally important. Supporting better mental health means making sure people know they’re not alone and that help is always available.
The Push-Up Challenge is a great way to remove the stigma around having conversations about mental health and is an opportunity to raise funds for an initiative I am incredibly passionate about.
What did you get out of participating in the challenge (physically, mentally, or socially)?
Physically, it pushed me to move and stick to a goal. Mentally, it gave me a sense of purpose like I was helping make a difference and socially it was motivating to be part of a community all working towards the same goal of supporting mental health.
My goal in 2026 is to raise much need funds for headspace the National Youth Mental Health Foundation to ensure 12-25 year olds across Australia continue to have access to much needed mental health services.
The Push-Up Challenge gave me a sense of purpose that I could turn my love of a physical challenge into an opportunity to raise funds and bring more awareness to headspace.
Why would you encourage others to get involved?
Anyone can get involved and every Push-Up helps make a difference. It’s a great way to challenge yourself, support mental health, and be part of something meaningful all while having a bit of fun along the way with my friends and family.
