About My Challenge
For the past few years, I’ve taken part in The Push-Up Challenge, and it’s something that continues to mean a lot to me. Last year, I teamed up with one of my closest friends, Emily, and as school captain, I was selected as an ambassador to represent my school and speak about the challenge on the Today Show.
This year, I’m doing 3,214 push-ups in 23 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health in Australia. The number, 3,214, represents the lives lost to suicide in 2023 (the most recent stats).
The Push-Up Challenge matters to me not just because it promotes physical activity, but because it recognises the connection between physical and mental health. Sport and physical exercise have also acted as a consistent outlet for me, not just physically, but as a way to deal with a lot of mental health challenges, emotional distress, and hard times that I don’t think I could’ve managed in any other way.
Mental health should never be a taboo topic. This initiative helps normalise conversations, support vital services, and remind people that they’re not alone.

When I first heard about the Push-Up Challenge, I didn’t just see it as people doing push-ups. I saw strength. Not just physical strength, but the strength it takes to open up, to support someone struggling, and to show up every day whether for a challenge or for a friend in need. To the person doing the challenge: your effort means more than you know. And to everyone else reading this whether you donate, cheer someone on, or simply check in on a mate you’re part of the reason this matters. Let’s keep lifting each other up.
