Getting involved in the Push-Up Challenge has been a game changer for me over the last 3 years. I lost my best friend, Reggie, to suicide in 2022 and felt incredibly lost and alone afterwards, especially at work. Since losing my best mate, I’ve been trying to find some kind of silver lining — some explanation for the pain that comes with his death.
The closest thing I’ve found is the Push For Better Foundation. Taking part in the challenge encouraged me to open conversations about mental health and the growing number of Australians losing their lives to suicide each year. Surface-level relationships around me became deeper, and an unspoken commitment to checking in on each other grew naturally from it.
My goal is to make sure the people around me know they are loved, supported, and that it’s okay to lean on others when things get hard.
