Why I am participating
I’ve decided to take on The Push-Up Challenge, not because I think it’s easy, but because I know it’s not. And that’s exactly why it matters. Doing 140 push-ups a day for 23 days is hard, just like living with anxiety, depression, or any mental health struggle can be. These challenges aren’t always visible, but they are real, and they affect more people than we often realise. It should be normal to talk about it. It should be okay to say you are not okay, to open up, and to confide your suffering in someone. You are not a burden. It took me a long time to realise that, to trust those around me, and to seek help, to show weakness and vulnerability . People struggle in different ways, for different reasons.
If you want to join the challenge, it doesn’t matter if you do all the push-ups, half of them, modified versions, or choose a different kind of movement that works for you. Physical health and body image are a big part of many people’s mental health struggles, there is no shame of adjusting to your capability, do YOUR best effort, it all counts the same. This challenge is about more than exercise. It’s about connection, understanding, and building a community that accepts people as they are. Whether you donate, support someone participating, check in on a friend or even better, a stranger then you’re part of this. Because this isn’t about push-ups. It’s about showing up for yourself, your mates, and your community.
Supporting headspace Dubbo Outreach Program

headspace is Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds.
Each year, headspace helps thousands of young people access vital support through our headspace centres in over 157 communities across Australia, our online and phone counselling services, our vocational services, and our presence in schools.
The support headspace receives from the community helps us achieve our vision - that all young Australians are supported to be mentally healthy and engaged in their communities.
