About My Challenge
I'm completing 3,307 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness and funds for mental health support, but specifically for children and teenagers of Australia.
I have a personal story, that is still raw to talk about.
Unfortunately, about this time in 2023 my family lost a beautiful thirteen-year-old daughter, sister, granddaughter and niece called Florence to suicide because she didn't have the mechanisms or support system to talk about what was troubling her so very much. I can’t even articulate what pain that creates. Florence seemed a happy go lucky teenager, an A grade student that loved to play football and play with her friends, but all was not as it seemed to the outside world and then it was too late.
The number of children and teenage suicides globally is growing exponentially, and the vast majority didn't think that they had anyone to talk to, or the confidence to confide in someone to ask for help. This simply cannot keep on happening to the future of this world, it's an incredible loss to humankind, and the pain it leaves behind is excruciating.
Again this year I'll be supporting Headspace who are the National Youth Mental Health Foundation. Headspace provides early intervention mental health services to 12–25-year-olds.
Whilst donations are great, and very welcome, this year is more about spreading the awareness. Just one conversation or interaction could change an outcome.

Each year, headspace helps thousands of young people access vital support through our headspace centres in over 175 communities across Australia, our online and phone counselling services, our vocational services, and our presence in schools.
The support headspace receives from the community helps us achieve our vision - that all young Australians are supported to be mentally healthy and engaged in their communities.
