Welcome, Foolish Adventurers! Muahahahaha...

This June, we're taking on The Push-Up Challenge and completing a heap of push-ups between 3-26 June to raise funds and awareness for mental health.

We're doing as many push ups as we can, even though some of us (read: me) aren't in peak physical condition, because dealing with mental health challenges and crises is hard, but you've got to start somewhere, and usually (hopefully) it gets better once you've started working on it. So join us - see how many push ups you can manage in three weeks - and idk I'll figure something fun out that we can do each week to mark people's progress. - Don

For those of you who you who can't take part in the physical challenge for medical reasons: I have a huge pile of sci fi and fantasy books which I have accumulated from Lifeline shops over the past year and a half. I wrote to the organisers, they said it's ok for you to lend a stack of those off me and read a page in place of doing a push up. Reading 3,307 pages in three weeks is still a brain-busting goal, so don't think this is the easy option! I'm making a list of everything in my shelf, and I'll bring it in to games nights for the next few weeks so people can make their picks and get logistics sorted. - Don

1/6/26: I've left a few bags of books in care of Jay at Epicly (thank you, Jay) and will be bringing more with me whenever I am at the shop, for people doing the reading challenge who haven't asked to borrow specific books.

PLEASE BE AWARE - these are basically grab bag picks from my shelves; I have not read most of them, and in many cases haven't even looked into their content. It's random sci fi and fantasy going back to about the '70s; there is a possibility you'll find things in there that are uncomfortable or upsetting for you. The goal of this challenge isn't to subject yourself to things that will actually impact your mental health - so if there are things you don't want to read about even in fiction, just be aware of that as you make your selections and do your reading.

You can show your support by making a tax-deductible donation to our fundraising page or joining our Team to be a part of the fun.

Supporting Lifeline

Lifeline is a national charity providing Australians who are experiencing emotional distress access to 24-hour crisis support, suicide prevention, mental health, and domestic and family violence prevention services.

Lifeline exists to ensure that no person in Australia has to face their toughest moments alone.

Our experience has shown us that it is through connection that we can find hope. That’s why we are available 24 hours a day to listen without judgement to anyone in Australia who is feeling overwhelmed, distressed, or experiencing a crisis. Each year, Lifeline receives over 1.3 million contacts to our crisis support services.

By supporting Lifeline, you are ensuring the Lifeline network has the critical technology, resources and people necessary to deliver crisis support, self-led support, and counselling services around the clock.
