Scholarships

The funds raised from The Push-Up Challenge has allowed headspace Newcastle to provide support for a number of young people engaged in clinical services at the centre. Although in its initial stages, the program has helped two young people engaged in the AOD program with gym memberships and 2 multicultural youth attend a cultural camp run through a local mosque. It is hoped that the scholarship program will become a permanent program at headspace Newcastle to assist young people to make those small steps that lead to big changes.

‘it’s been great to be implement a program that directly benefits young people receiving support at headspace Newcastle. For our clinicians to have the resources to help a young person make change is amazing’
Byron Williams, Community Development Officer, headspace Newcastle.

Calendar Creative

headspace Newcastle  has compiled art from young artists in The Hunter to create the Young Creative Calendar, 2022. This initiative was realised using funds from the PUC and has allowed headspace Newcastle to produce over 600 calendars to be distributed for free to the young artists, their families and the general community. headspace Newcastle received so many entries that we are producing three separate versions of the calendar! The calendars not only contain amazing art from the young people involved but also highlight the seven tips for a healthy headspace. All artists are being paid for their contribution to the calendar as well as Youth Reference Group Member Katie Unwin, who has collated and arranged the calendars.

A free calendar with amazing art is a great way to celebrate to young creatives and look to a better 2022!

‘ The headspace Young and Creative Calendar is a great way to celebrate the artistic talent we have here in The Hunter. The quantity, quality and diversity of the artwork submitted has blown us all away. This calendar came from a small idea, and has now become a big way for us to show thanks to our community. It’s been a wonderful opportunity to create this calendar and see just what youth in the hunter are able to produce. I look forward to doing next years and seeing even more wonderful art!’ Katie Unwin, Youth Reference Group Member, Advisory Board Chair. ‘
