Iona's Push For One Million

In June, Iona College is taking part in The Push-Up Challenge. We are going to help shine the spotlight on the number of lives lost to suicide in 2023 and raise awareness of mental health. If you are a student at our school you are invited to join either your community group, or if you are a member of the student leadership group, your Student Leadership Team to help us push for better. Don't worry staff - we have a team for you, too.

This year we need all of you because our student leaders (and Mr Millard) have set a target for us. It's a big one.

Welcome to Iona College's Push For One Million.

Across this year's Push Up Challenge in June we are going to try to complete one million push ups (or sit ups or squats or lunges - your choice) as a community. To do this we need your help. The most any one person can do across the challenge is 3214 push ups, so to reach our target we need as many of our community as possible to do whatever they feel they are able to to help.

Every push up you do is one we couldn't have done without you.

We know not everyone in our community will feel up to completing the challenge. If you think you might be a chance- challenge yourself! It feels amazing when you achieve a goal like this. But even if that big number sounds impossible, your one or two a day is one or two that someone else doesn't have to do and gets us closer.

We want to prove to ourselves as a community that every one of us has something vital that we bring to our community that no one else can and when we all lean in and do what we are able to we can achieve amazing things.

Plus you will get a little fitter and stronger and learn a lot about mental health along the way.

Get on board in what just might be something really special. We're counting on you (literally).

Supporting Lifeline

Lifeline exists to ensure no person in Australia has to face their toughest moments alone.
Our crisis support services are available 24/7 to listen, without judgement, to any person in Australia who is feeling overwhelmed, experiencing crisis or longs to be heard.

Experience shows us it is through connection that we can find hope. With Australians struggling with cost-of-living pressures, increasing inflation, housing insecurity, global instability, and recovery after extreme weather events, our crisis support services have remained in high demand with our voice and text services receiving up to 4,000 contacts a day from help seekers. Our partnership with The Push Up Challenge plays a vital role in raising funds to support the delivery of suicide prevention and crisis support services at a time where we have never been needed more.

Thank you for supporting Lifeline. Your fundraising is helping to save lives.
