Why are we doing pushups? 💪

The Push-Up Challenge isn’t just about pumping out reps—it’s about raising awareness for mental health, shining the spotlight on the number of lives lost to suicide last year, it gets people talking, and keeps us all a bit fitter (physically and mentally). The aim for DCP-TL isn’t about raising money but every push-up sparks a convo and supports a mate. 

 You can create a team in this Community, join a team or support someone who is taking part.  

Rules:

  1. You don't need to do push ups you can choose an alternate exercise if you wish (think squats, lunges, sit-ups, wall pushups, cobras, boxing, bicep curls, step ups). 

  2. Raising money is not the goal for DCP, but feel free to donate to one of the causes if you wish.

  3. We are aiming to have Teams of four, encouraging everyone in the team and inspiring the other teams to not all behind and to complete all 3214 reps.

  4. Scoreboard will be deliberated at DA's days and DA Syncs - Teams falling behind will be mocked into catching up.

5.     We are dislocated and never all in the same place, the challenge is designed to you can do it even when you are dislocated from the team.

Hot Tips:

  1. Do some pre training.

  2. Day 1 is 120 reps, Day 23 is 230 reps (Plan mentally for at least 160 reps per day)

  3. Sundays are a rest/catchup day.

4.     You can catch-up on push ups if you miss some, but you cant move forward.

  1. It’s a challenge not a competition….It is about motivating each other to the finish line. That said…. There will be prizes for:

B.    Creative Push-Up Location – Weirdest/funniest place someone did their push-ups

C.     Best Push-Up Face – Strained expressions welcome

D.    Push-Up Picasso – Best Team Pushup Photo

E.     Team Spirit Award – Most encouraging team to others in DCP

F.     Funny fellas - Best Team Name

G.    Best Team Logo – AI encouraged

H.    Late-Night Lifter – Most push-ups done after 10 PM

I.      Early bird– Most reps done before 6 AM

 

Any team that does not have all members complete all reps is ineligible for prizes.

headspace is Australia’s National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds. 

Each year, headspace helps thousands of young people access vital support through our headspace centres in over 157 communities across Australia, our online and phone counselling services, our vocational services, and our presence in schools. 

The support headspace receives from the community helps us achieve our vision - that all young Australians are supported to be mentally healthy and engaged in their communities.
