My Why

I'm completing 3,307 push-ups in 24 days to raise awareness for mental health. My entire life I have used exercise and an active lifestyle as a way to keep mentally strong. To me a strong body means a strong mind. Now pushups are not something I train and I go in this time with 2 dodgy shoulders and some kind of tennis elbow, but I am determined to complete all of them again one way or another, remember there are no rules! Below is my main drive why:

At the age of 19 I lost my mum to mental health just 8 days short of her 52nd Birthday, which was 24 June. So June is a big month. She struggled most of her life.

I am dedicating the challenge to her as always, as she is the reason I made it my life mission to never struggle mentally and as a result have lived an amazing and exciting life where I have been able to make major life decisions and overcome the associated challenges.

This is my 4th year of doing the push-up challenge and every year the number increases which is a sign that mental health is not improving in Australia. I hope that this challenge will prompt people to check in with loved ones, but more importantly check in with yourself and be honest about how you are feeling. If you are struggling in any shape or form, reach out.

For me this challenge is about raising awareness, and finances can be one of the biggest triggers for mental health, so I don’t like asking for donations, but of course the option is there if people feel they want to.
